Yeah, I didn’t mean “Aunt Flow”….
I meant I went to a great Hatha Flow class tonight & feel back on track with my yoga & my attitude. Whew! The past few days have been looooww for me. Something kicked into gear today…maybe the rain calmed the pollen that’s been making me crazy hayfever-y…I dunno…but I was lovin’ the backbends tonight. Even felt strong enough & had enough heat to push myself into Urdhva Dhanurasana. Usually, I can get on my head & barely push up for just a second. Today I rock! Got way up & extended my arms straighter than ever before. Whoo-hoo! Its supposed to be an energizing pose & I’m feelin’ it. Maybe I should start up a morning practice doing upward bow first thing and skip coffee….nah…who’m I kidding? I love my morning coffee!
Also, we worked toward compass pose, but did this thing where you wrap the leg at the knee over your shoulder (right leg over right shoulder with foot hanging forward). Then you put both hands flat on the ground & lift off the ground. I actually pulled this off on both sides — barely. I think the balance & trusting myself to lean forward is really what it comes down to. Once I have that, I’ll have the pose nailed.
Now where’s dinner? I’m hungry!

Okay, so wow. I just read the instructions for the compass pose. I won’t be doing that anytime soon! When you get the pose, DEFINITELY post a picture of it on your blog! It looks like quite an achievement!

You do some interesting poses in class. I may have to come check it out sometime.

I said “Eewwww” as the voyer in me took over and I clicked on this post title. It’s a pleasant surprise. Great job on your progress and feeling good.

There is a free community class on Sunday, July 8th. See: http://sweat365.com/events/2007/07/08/free-community-yoga-class/ . It will be a very basic, beginner class, but its a great way to meet Diane, who owns the studio, see the space & get started. If you’re more interested in one of the more “complex” classes, I’d recommend the Saturday 9:15am class, the noon Friday class or one of the mid-level weekday evening flow classes. Give me a shout if you want to join me, I’m there a lot & it doesn’t take much to convince me to go!
(Tho I may skip the 7/8 class as its Bob’s birthday!)
