Simply a headstand - no way!
I had to do some kind of yoga, and if you can’t do a complete practice, headstand is one of those poses that can do a world of good all on its own. But then the headstand ended, and my body said “More! More! More!”
So…after letting headstand sink in my relaxing in child’s pose…I indulged [...]

Put one foot in front of the other…
Shiloh & I decided to give walking a shot. My hip and groin were feeling pretty good, so I threw on some cross trainers, grabbed the leash (and the dog), and took a very short, very slow walk. Nothing popped or seized up, so we had a good time enjoying the sun. No doggie friends [...]

Acupuncture - Quit Groining & Get Hip with it
This morning I woke up with a still-not-better hip. My groin feels a lot better, but the aches are still throbbing in my hip. I slathered on a few layers of tiger balm last night, which definitely felt good — even if the dog wouldn’t come near me — but that wasn’t enough. Diane & [...]

Easy Does It!
Tonight is my weekly beginner/restorative class. Blessings to Diane for really taking it easy on us & not doing a lot of hip work. (I’d let her know my hip/groin — guessing adductor brevis & tensor fascia latae in particular? – was really acting up again, so I know she had my injuries in mind.) I went [...]

Friends Do Let Friends Get Fat?!
I just read an interesting article on a longterm study indicating that having fat friends may make us fatter. From the article, “…these findings reinforce the idea that obesity is not just an individual problem but a collective problem…”
All I can say, is thank goodness we have a network of health-minded people encouraging each other [...]

Training & maintaining after raining
The sun is shining again in Seattle after an odd week of summer rain. My garden loved the rain & grew rapidly while it was warm & wet. There’s something about rain out of the sky that is so much better than processed tap water from our hoses & irrigation system. Plants just love the [...]

Sinking into Shavasana Tranquility
Tonight’s level II-III Hatha class was great. There were just a few of us & when polled at the start, we were all at different energy levels. Lizia gave us a challenging class — part of the challenge being to know ourselves and back off when we needed to.
My right hip is still bugging me, [...]

Big dog, Little Dog. Black dog, White Dog.
Shiloh appreciated her walk tonight, esp. after being poked & prodded at her annual vet check up earlier today. (Adding to her misery, the cat came to the vet at the same time.) On tonight’s walk, we met two dogs. A big, black poodle, and, later, a tiny white poodle. Neither had we seen in [...]

Flex & Wobble
My right hip is still bugging me. Ugh, I could kick myself for over-stretching it in Saturday’s class. I have pretty open hips, and its easy for me to go just a little too far & over do sometimes. I’ve been good, until last Saturday, about backing off. I just had to take those “two [...]

Snarfin’ Hound = Barfin’ Hound
Our dog, Shiloh, is definitely some kind of hound mutt. She looks a lot like a Kerry Beagle though her coat & other imperfections don’t quite fit the breed standard. When we adopted her from the pound, we were able to contact her original owners who claimed they knew for certain that her mother was a [...]
