One of my neighbors is getting their house ready to put up for sale. They’re downsizing. Part of getting ready was hiring, what we call in the landscaping trade, a mow blow & go land-scraping company. This is a company that may or may not be licensed and insured. They may or may not pay taxes; they’re cheap, which comes as a mixed bag.
They come in and do exactly what’s described in the nickname. In this case, they also sheared the b-jezus out of some shrubs that really shouldn’t be sheared, but that isn’t part of this story. What really got me going was the finishing touches they put on the clean up they were doing. First, they pressure washed all the patios, blasting all the dirt, moss and trash into the street and alleyway. (They were doing this as Shiloh & I left on our walk.) Then, to finish up, they got out blowers and created a huge dirt storm all over the neighborhood. It was noise pollution & emission pollution & dirt pollution. And, it didn’t really clean anything up. It was so bad, I didn’t even want to walk up my street. I’m sure Shiloh, fresh from a pre-travel bath, is now coated in dust even though we avoided the storm. Why use these blowers? Why not get out a rake, a broom and a dust pan? The answer’s easy. They’re lazy & they aren’t really cleaning up. They want to get in & get out & make it all look tidy. They’re creating a mess that they blow around until it, momentarily, blows away from the property they were hired to clean up. This means the rest of the neighbors get to have all the yardwaste, dust and garbage from the “clean up” conveniently desposited into their front yards, porches and street drains. And, in my case, all over my person & my dog. Grrr…this gets my goat. (Okay, deep breath. You’re typing to work this through…) IMHO: If you’re going to clean up. Do the right thing & finish cleaning. Don’t just sweep your trash under somebody else’s rug!
Other than that, Shiloh and I had a very nice, if very warm, afternoon stroll.

That stinks, literally! Yeah, they are just being lazy… and the name of the company is rather funny! Hopefully you’ll have nice new neighbors!
