We have a new teacher at the yoga studio. She’s teaching several of the level II-III classes, and her style is quite different from any of the many other teachers I’ve studied under. She doesn’t use a lot of vinyasa to warm us up. Yet, we get warm! And some of her vinyasa is very different. For instance, she had us flowing from a wide-legged boat-like pose into full wheel. I wasn’t very graceful at the flow. I have a pretty big ponytail, so getting out of wheel is always a little clunky for me. And, flowing into wheel is hard! Esp. doing it 5+ times. I’m lucky, after really warming up, if I can push into it 2x!
Anyway, I like her style. It challenges me. She’s finding different muscle groups that are clearly weaker than the others I’ve been working on in my regular practice with other teachers. In her classes I feel like a beginner most of the time, which is good. Shaking, wobbling, learning…they all mean I’m growing!
I can’t wait for Weds night restorative. I’m really feeling the need for it this week!
