Monday yoga was great. We did several flows & a lot of hamstring work, which I always need. As well we did a lot of hip openers including Eka Pada Galavasana. I was able to follow all the steps toward the arm balance, but I wasn’t able to fully arm balance. On one side I was able to arm balance without the full leg extension & that was only for a brief moment. But, it still felt good.

To get into it (after doing a lot of warm up), from standing we worked one foot into a standing 1/2 lotus. Then, bending the standing knee slightly, we lowered our hands to the floor, straightened the standing leg and did a 1/2 lotus forward bend. Then we lowered ourselves into a 1/2 lotus toe stand and worked on just balancing there. Then, we lowered our hands again with arms bent & hooking the 1/2 lotus foot around one arm, we balanced in an arm stand. Well, some of us did. Others just tried!

The rest of class was great as well. We did lots of 1/2 headstands as well as full headstand. I’m still working on mine at the wall, but I’m definitely getting close. I think soon I’ll ask someone to spot me in the middle of the room & I’ll try to get up into headstand there. I think I can do it, but I’m just wary.
