About a month or so ago a fellow Sweat365er suggested that Shiloh needs her own blog. In lieu of her own blog, I thought I’d give her a page on mine.
Shiloh is an about 8 year old mutt. We adopted her from the humane society when she was about 9 months old. They had the contact information for her prior owners who supposedly knew her mother. I spoke with them and was told Shiloh is half chocolate lab. You see the photo, do you think that’s true? I wonder what crosses with a chocolate lab to create a Beagle-meets-Blue-Heeler such as herself?
Anyway, Shiloh is a darling doggie with a rare, precious personality. (This comes from someone who has had somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 wonderful dogs to care for in her life –not including litters of farm puppies running about.) She has never met a dog she doesn’t get along with. She will rest her head in my lap just to be close to me. She loves to go for walks and car rides. She’s been known to bring toys to share with toddlers and puppies.
And, let’s be honest, she does have some not so perfect traits as well. The foremost issue is her lymphatic and gastrointestinal diseases. They’re under control with drugs, but they’re expensive and scary to deal with. She’s also been known to raid the cat box for kitty-roca (Yes, YUCK!)
But, she’s my best friend & I forgive her foibles. We hang out everyday when I’m working at home. We go for a walk everyday. She tolerates the cat (and gives him hell sometimes). She’s protective of our house, but she’s not aggressive. (I think she’d eat someone alive if I told her to, though.) She tolerates having to wear antlers and jingle bells for the holidays. And, so far, she hasn’t broken into the gift closet where she knows something is stashed away for her.
So, that’s my girl. Stay tuned for her puppy tails. WOOF!

Yes, yes. Kitty-roca was a favorite treat of our dog, Bean. Fortunately, her palate refined as she aged. Thank goodness.

In my experience, the BEST dogs are the ones who’s genetic history is a mystery!
